Hi Everyone!
I'm Hannah, a 14 year old girl from Connecticut. If you couldn't tell by now, I like baking... a lot. Maybe it's even to the point of love... or obsession. Anyways, if you lived in my house, you'd surely believe me. Living in my house (or neighborhood (: ) there is never a lack of confectionary treats. Some visitors are worried for their health.. but just can't resist.
As a young girl, I loved everything about dessert (but who didn't). It wasn't until I was at least 7 that I discovered my own interest in actually making it without just "helping mom" and mixing an unfortunate batter until it sunk to the bottom of the bowl. Something that sparked my interest in baking was the hurricane in Haiti back in 2008. I felt deeply affected by the peoples' struggle in that far away country and held a fundraiser. My fundraiser? A bake sale of course. Instead of setting up a table and sitting outside for hours on end, I took a more professional route and advertised by calling and emailing families throughout my town. The orders started pouring in (to an 8 year old) and I picked one Sunday and spent all day bustling throughout the kitchen with help from my sister and mom. It may not seem like much, but I raised a total of almost 90 dollars which were then donated to the Red Cross. This was my moment of inspiration and that Sunday was the day I dove into the wondrous world of baking.
I hope your inspiration strikes and you start filling the world with flour.
Love,
Hannah
